Software Engineer in the Digital/Media space

Progressive Recruitment is looking for a Software Engineer in the Digital/Media space to be based in North Ryde, on an initial 6 month contract with the chance of extension.
Progressive Recruitment is looking for candidates with TV/Media background due to more work in this area emerging like EPL, Fetch channels etc.
Preferably worked in ABC, FoxTel, Disney, NewsCorp, and other media companies in developing Digital Media solution and implementations.

Digital Media/TV skills required for this role:
Adaptive Media streaming
DRM
Transcoding, Packaging to different formats – DASH/Smooth/HLS and different bit rates
Content delivery network (CDN) experience for TV and multi-screen, digital media – (preferably using various Open Source Technologies - Varnish/NGINX)
Linear Channels, Video on Demand

Desireable skills:
Perl programming experience
Linux server administration (RHEL), including shell scripting
Strong networking. TCP/IP, firewalls, routing, and protocols including HTTP, DNS, SSH
All core web languages including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, REST, SOAP
MySQL/Postgress database experience
Experience in design or part of implementing highly available, critical infrastructure & applications
Mobile application development experience (iOS, Android)

Key output for this role include:
Successfully develop and deploy software in test and production environments
Satisfactory code testing and reporting of testing
Project and system documentation
Satisfactory communication and liaison with peers within and without our team
Satisfactory communication and liaison with management

The successful candidate will ideally start in the middle/end of January however notice periods are acceptable.
